Mrs. Jane MacLean was listed at the market place from 1883 as a Bookseller & stationer in North Walsham. In 1890 up until 1892 she was listed as a mineral water manufacturer. The company was taken over by Lawrence George MacLean in 1900 and he continued trading past 1933.

The bottle is misspelled "Shepley" and should read "Shipley". William Shipley graduated from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1823 and was first listed in North Walsham in 1830 at Free School Road. In 1836 he was listed as Veterinary Surgeon at White Horse Road and again from 1839 until 1865 at New Road. In his last two entries 1865 and 1868 he was joined by Joshua Shipley.
